Food Storage for Brand Factory
About Brand Factory, based in Australia, is committed to manufacturing innovative and sustainable products through a focus on sustainable materials, thoughtful construction, and ethical and transparent production. Brand Factory approached Designit to design a family of food storage products which align with Scandinavian design principles, are unique and differentiated from existing products, yet measure up price-wise against some of the most popular storage systems on the market today.
Role and responsibilities I was one of three designers working on this project, and have been involved from concept development and 3D modeling, to evaluating prototypes and communicating with the factory.

Solution Designit proposed 6 concept directions, of which two were selected to bring forward and refine. The selected concept directions included a single-clip closure system which created a visually interesting and unique edge detail, and a child-friendly lunchbox with an elastic closure and fun shapes. When this product line is launched it will be a sustainable alternative to the many virgin plastic food storage options available at a low price point, and will introduce a new closure system to the market.
Details Keeping sustainability and cost of production in mind, the containers have been designed to have as few separate pieces as possible. The clip is moulded into the lid during production, and the gasket is the only add-on piece. Sizes for the containers have been chosen with cupboard space in mind. The product family is stackable to make storing simpler when not in use.
